Leonid Gore 

Leonid Gore was born in Russia. There he studied illustration and graphic design, and illustrated a number of Russian books. Since his arrival in the United States in 1990, he has illustrated more than twenty-five books. Here he has been widely praised for his artwork in such books as Lucy Dove (DK Publishing) (an IRA Children's Choice book and a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year), Sleeping Boy (Atheneum) (a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year), Behold the Trees (Scholastic), Saints Among the Animals (Atheneum), Sparks Fly High (FSG), Clockwork (Scholastic); and he recently wrote and illustrated one of his own, Danny's First Snow (Atheneum). He also excels at illustrations for book covers, including those for The Christmas Rat (Atheneum), Well Wished (Simon & Schuster), The Folk Keeper (Atheneum), and Blizzard!(Atheneum). Critics have praised his work as “visually stunning,” “dreamlike,” and “haunting.”

He lives in Oakland, New Jersey, with his wife and daughter.
